The Education Center represents a new phase in the ongoing collaboration between Hillsboro Area Health System and Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield. Students interested in careers in nursing can now complete many of the courses required for certification through LLCC classes taught in the Education Center.

Basic Nurse Assistant (CNA)
The Basic Nurse Assistant program is designed to teach and train men and women to help care for patients and to be effective members of the nursing team under the supervision of a registered professional or Licensed Practical Nurse.
The program consists of 136 hours of theory, lab and clinical experience. Most classes meet 4-5 days a week, usually 4 hours per day, for 8 weeks. All of these CNA classes are offered by Lincoln Land at the Hillsboro Education Center.
Upon successful completion of the course work, students receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to take the state competency exam required for certification, which allows a CNA to work in nursing homes, extended-care facilities, hospitals and home health services throughout Illinois.
Registered Nurse (RN)
Students interested in becoming Registered Nurses must complete Lincoln Land's two-year nursing program to receive an Associate Degree Nursing/Associate in Applied Science. The program combines classroom and clinical experiences, and upon successful completion, students are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination to qualify as a Registered Nurse.
First-year classes are offered on the LLCC campus in Springfield. The second year of the nursing program can be completed at the Hillsboro Education Center.
